Targeted Aging Area: the Eyes

Just as your hands often give off tell-tale signs of your age, so can your eyes, especially if you’re not applying your eye makeup differently than you did when you were younger.

The older person’s makeup routine should begin with a good quality eye cream, before makeup is applied. Let the eye cream dry completely, and then apply your foundation on the top of the area and anti-aging concealer beneath the eye area to help cover darkness and circles.  This also prepares the skin to hold your makeup in place so that it doesn’t “run” into your lines and wrinkles.

Blend your eye makeup well and use an anti-aging formula that is enhanced with the anti-aging ingredients above.  Go lightly on the eye makeup application.  Tilt the outside corners when applying eyeliner to the upper lid only – this takes away from the natural droop that the eye area has as we age.

Make sure that your brow bone has a lighter color than your eyelid to lift up the eye area.  Choose an eye makeup color the same as your skin tone in order to look even younger.

Fill in any gaps in your eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil and use mascara specifically formulated for volume.  (There are now prescription medications on the market that help to stimulate the re-growth of eyelashes – you might have seen Brooke Shields promoting them on television).
