Targeted Aging Area: the Lips

Like the eyes, the lips (or the mouth, actually) is a dead give-away of age because our once full, pouty lips become thinner when the years march on.  Although we cannot stop this from happening, we can make our lips look fuller and fresher with anti-aging lipsticks and lip liners.

Begin your lipstick application by applying a moisturizing lip balm to the area.  Pencil in the line of your lips, and make the line go slightly past its natural stopping point to make your lips have the appearance of being fuller.

Apply your lipstick while keeping these tips in mind for older lips:

  • Choose anti-aging lipstick in colors that are pale – avoid bright colors and dark colors.
  • A bit of face powder around the lips will help prevent lipstick from bleeding or running.
  • Once a week, exfoliate the lips with a toothbrush to remove dead skin cells and help rejuvenate the lips.
  • Consider cosmetic whitening of the teeth or an at-home whitening kit to keep your smile bright.  White teeth speak of youth – yellowish colored or stained teeth speak of age.
  • Don’t forget to smile!  Nothing makes you look older than a frown.
