My favorite character is Miriam Aarons (Paulette Goddard). Followed closely by Sylvia Fowler (Rosalind Russell).

Every adult would've known that was code for "bitches", a word which at that time was completely forbidden in films - even to refer to in a coded, indirect way like this. This movie is one of the all-time greats. It is just so well-written. The "Mary" character is pretty bland until the end so it's easy for "Sylvia" (Rosalind Russell), "Miriam" (Paulette Goddard) and "Crystal" (Joan Crawford) to steal the thunder. It's obvious from her name and looks that "Miriam Aarons" is Jewish and came from a less fancy background, yet steals a rich WASP husband - subtle comment on class differences. 1000? times better than the lousy remake.

If done with a large enough group of participants it would still be relatively? easy to recognise trends despite the subjective nature of the opinions.
